Alanna started doing WordPress at the end of college, worked on WordPress sites for about two years professionally, and then was intrigued by the possibilities of Drupal. Serendipity struck when she found a place that was looking for a developer to learn along with them as they switched to Drupal. Alanna got that job, learned by fire, and eight years later found her way to Kanopi after meeting some of the great Kanopi folks and realizing this was somewhere she wanted to work.
Alanna serves on the Drupal Diversity & Inclusion Leadership team, as well as the DrupalCon Program Team.
Outside of work, Alanna is heavily involved in animal rescue. She works with a small animal rescue called Helping All Little Furries, and is usually fostering a handful of guinea pigs at any given time. She’s also a podcast addict and bullet journaler (which, she acknowledges, is not recognized as a proper word).
Location: Pottstown, PA
Favorite Game: Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. She’s all about iPhone games
Favorite Places: Washington Square Park in downtown Philadelphia at lunch time to watch all the dogs and squirrels. The children’s pool in La Jolla, California, where the seals go to give birth. The middle of nowhere Vermont in the fall. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History home of the Ruby Slippers. A giant used book store.
Did you know: Alanna ran a cat rescue in North Philly called Temple Cats. It got a lot of attention, and she was interviewed on the evening news. The rescue is still going strong nearly 10 years later.
